The South Sudan government must rescue the youth through the enterprise fund.

Despite being clearly outlined in the peace agreement, little has been done to ensure that the enterprise fund gets started.

The relevant institutions should kickstart the process and ensure that it is realized to rescue the bigger population, which is the suffering youth.

In most countries, enterprise funds have always been a source of income to help the youth through the creation of employment.

The recent passing of the youth policy, which subsequently tasks the Ministry of Finance and Planning, in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, to immediately operationalize the Youth Enterprise Development Fund to finance youth entrepreneurship and innovation, is a great success that needs implementation.

In order not to end up as a document, the concerned institutions must make sure that all the necessary avenues are made available to ensure that the fund is realized.

Not only the policy, but the current framework will also legalize all the processes connected to the fund, a move that needs the government to double the efforts.

There will be no need to make claims of not implementing the enterprise fund; all stakeholders involved must ensure it is made operational.

This fund will help in ensuring that youth take part in the private sector.

The policy mandates that young people hold 20% of positions in national and state governments and pledges that 10% of the national budget will be allocated to youth.

This could be a good start; if the 10% budget is provided for youth programs, more employment opportunities will be created.
