The governor of Central Equatoria state has advised the Juba City council’s leadership to observe self-discipline among themselves.
Speaking during the swearing in ceremony of newly appointed Mayor of Juba City, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel advised the councillors to have self-discipline among themselves.
“I just want to remind you when I took over and observed some of the lessons learned from the former leadership of Juba City Council, and I would like to remind you that you need to have self-discipline among yourselves” he said.
Mujung also added that the councillors need to honor and respect the legal frameworks pertaining to Juba City Council, the rules, regulations, and laws.
“Now, by having self-discipline, that means you can also understand your job description” the governor stated.
He underscored the mayor’s appointment through allegiance, signifying to him and to those who were witnessing and ready to serve the people of South Sudan as well as the people of Central Equatoria who are residents in Juba City.
“I just want to tell you I’m just implementing the will of God. You are chosen by Almighty God, and I’m only implementing it because you are so many competing for these positions, but at last you won it, and I believe God has chosen you for this position. You will not work alone. I need you to work as a team, not like the former leadership” he stated.
Governor emphasized that by working as a team, he is sure the mayor will deliver, achieve a lot because team spirit is crucial for success.
He without that cooperation of the leadership and his deputies, the council will not achieve their goals.
“I just want to remind you to have this cooperation throughout the leadership and also as the chief executive officer of the Juba City Council”.
You have said in two weeks I’ll receive a plan of action of what you are going to do, and I would like to assure you that you will get every support and also help from my side.
“I want you to succeed, and by doing so, it’s also my success, and if you fail, it’s also my failure” he stressed.
The governor vowed to help the mayor in order t understand some of the challenges and how to overcome them.
He said the government of Central Equatoria state will also be behind and work hand in have to provide assistance.
“They will cooperate and assist you. I just want to tell you that the expectation of the people in Juba City is very high, and also added to that one, our expectation. I wish Juba becomes a second Kigali, in terms of cleanliness. People want Juba to be clean, and this is the responsibility of Juba City” he stated.
Mujung underscored the need for conducive living environment, the issue of waste management needed also to be taken seriously.
“Juba must be clean, and Juba will also be conducive for us the living mankind. The other issue is the service. There are physical infrastructures such as roads the roads inside Juba need to be repaired, to be maintained, and also need to be taken into consideration” he said.
