Governor Mujung Demands Noticeable Change from New Juba Mayor in 100 Days

Central Equatoria State Governor, Rabi Mujung Emmanuel, on Monday challenged the newly appointed Mayor of Juba City, Christopher Sarafino Swaka Wani, to deliver services and enact noticeable change within his first 100 days in office.

The Governor made the demand during the mayor’s swearing in ceremony at the state secretariat in Juba.

“What I want from you is, within these 90-100 days, change must happen,”. “We need to really see that the new leadership, it’s the energy that you are coming to make a difference.” Mujung stated

Mujung emphasized the high stakes for the new administration, adding, “I’m going to rely on you that your success is our success, you will also hear the comments of the public at large.”

He assured the mayor of necessary guidance to overcome challenges and encouraged the new council to engage the public, develop a proper work plan based on public concerns, and prioritize road renovation.

The Governor further unveiled a joint vision with the local government to establish a local government institute for Central Equatoria State. The institute would be used to upgrade and train new executive officers, benefiting not only the state but also the wider country.

Meanwhile, Deputy Governor Paulino Lukudu Obede called on the Juba City Council leadership to change its approach to taxation, specifically urging them to avoid closing small businesses and instead work with traders to promote economic empowerment.

For his part, Mayor Christopher Sarafino Swaka Wani, who was appointed by the Governor on Friday 17, Oct 2025 pledged immediate reforms and promised to restore public trust.
