Patients at the main referral Hospital decry lack of access to health service due to strike.

Patients attending Health Services at Bor main referral Hospital in Jonglei State have decried lack of access to services due to the ongoing strike by the transferred health workers this week.

Early this month, State Ministry of Health in Jonglei made Hospital structuring transferring some trained medics and nurses to deliver services at Primary Heath Care centres at the Payams.

This move was later rejected by the transferred medics citing that it’s un procedural leading to strike that shutdown the Hospital leaving Patients without access to medical services.

According to Jonglei State Ministry of health, most of the striking doctors have been serving at Bor State Hospital for than a decade as experienced health workers; however, some of them lack medical credentials.

Speaking to this News out, Mabior Arou, a patient caregiver who took his sibling to the but was denied Hospital entry but unfortunately loss his sister at the gate due to persisted blood sugar without medical attention.

Mr. Mabior expressed that the Patients are facing dramatic denial of the medical services due to strike and that he called on the state government to urgently look into the matter before it gets worse.

this situation at the Hospital is not really good. As we took our sister today to the Hospital, we couldn’t be allowed in, we stood at the gate and my sister was suffering from blood sugar. She couldn’t make it again.   we have taken her home to be buried.’’ Mabior stated.

He stated that Bor Hospital is major referral Hospital serving vast population in Jonglei State and neighbouring state such lakes State and its closed down would foster health challenges to the population.

Meanwhile Dr. Philip Majok, the Medical director for Bor state Hospital confirmed that the Hospital has been shut-down by the angry doctors and now the Hospital operates Partially.

“ Well, this is the thing, these doctors are rejecting their transfer and of course they were told to be transferred with their package. They said this unprocedural and from there, they have shut down the Hospital, there is no free operation now, the Hospital just works partially.’’ Majak said.

Dr. Majok emphasized that the transferred doctors were transferred with all their packages and privileges to extend quality Health services to the population in the Payams which he described as a normal activity done at any health institution.

However, he stressed that Jonglei State Ministry of health and state leaders is working tirelessly to ensure that the matter is resolved and that Bor State Hospital resumes soon.

Bor state Hospital is Major Referral Hospital which delivers health Services to vast Population with the State and beyond, however, it’s been facing lack of specialised doctors to deliver specialised Health services to the People of Jonglei state. According to the State Ministry of health, the new swaged at aim at improving Health services at the State Hospital and beyond.
