The authorities at Bor referral Hospital have reported that the H ospital has resumed full operations following two weeks long protest early this month.
Early this month, the Jonglei State Ministry of health restructured the Hospital staffing, transferring some medics to various Payams in Bor County to extend quality Health care services to the villages; the move was heavily rejected by the transferred doctors leading to the shutdown of Hospital including the entrance gate.
However, the long shut of the Hospital promoted concern citizens, human rights activists including Jonglei State Civil Society to voice out for the immediate opening of the Hospital citing it closed down undermines human right to Health Care Services.
Speaking to No. One citizen Daily Newspaper, Dr. Philip Majok, the medical director at Bor State Hospital stated that Bor Hospital has opened and the residents have started accessing the Health Care Services normally.
“yes, well, that happened, the hospital has opened and it’s operational now. The main gate has been opened and the emergency including other wards have been opened. It’s only my office that’s still closed but the leadership is engaging the protesting doctors’’ Philip Said.
Mr. Philip stressed the emergency ward, antenatal care, Maternity wards including the main gate of the Hospital have been opened and the services are being discharged to the patients by the doctors.
He said, the opening of the Hospital comes following the engagement of State leadership and the Ministry of health convince the angry doctors.
“the protesting doctors have agreed to follow up their case with the as Hospital continue to operate, I am sure, all will be well, that’s what I can say’’ he said.
In the recent weeks following the closure of the Main Referral Hospital, several mothers gave birth at the gate and some lives were loss due denial of Health Care Services.
This news outlet couldn’t immediately reach the protested doctors for comment.
Attempts to reach Minister for Information were not successful.
