Director General of Traffic Police, Kon John Akot, has been promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General in recognition of his dedication, leadership, and outstanding service.
In a statement issued Monday on the official page of the South Sudan National Police Service, authorities confirmed that Gen. Akot’s promotion followed President Kiir directive.
Akot was promoted among other Police officers by President Salva Kiir Mayardit who is the commander in chief of all the organized forces.
The head of state and commander in chief approved the elevation of several senior police officers and non‑commissioned officers across the service.
The latest round of promotions is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen leadership and professionalism within the force.
Five senior police officers were elevated from Major General to Lieutenant General, including Akot, while eleven officers were promoted from Brigadier to Major General.
The newly promoted officers were officially decorated during a ceremony held at the Traffic Police Headquarters in Juba, attended by senior government officials and police leadership. The decorations were conducted by Acting Minister of Interior, Hon. Mangar Buong, alongside Inspector General of Police, Gen. Said Chawul Lom.
