South Sudan Government has proposed 1.5 million USD to cover targeted Humanitarians Need across the country.
The minister of Humanitarians Affairs and Disaster Management, Albino Akol Atak said the ministry needed 1.5 million USD to rescue the targeted affected population in the country.
Akol issued a statement on Monday, during welcoming ceremony of newly appointed undersecretary, William Akoy Dau Deng at ministry office in Juba, stating that the ministry needed resources in order to cover the needs of the people.
“We need resources of 1.5 million USD to cover the targeted affected population with humanitarian needs” he said.
He said that if the ministry get 1 million USD can cover half of targeted populations which are mostly in need of humanitarian’s assistant in South Sudan.
“If we get 1 million USD can cover and rescue half of the affected target population in arrange need of Humanitarian needs” Akol said.
Akol reminded the new undersecretary about the challenges on how to mobilizers resources to response to needed affected population in the country.
He said today (Tuesday) would be the launching of Humanitarian Need Response Plan, as government’s usually in every year as plan strategy for the people affected record.
Akol acknowledged that this year the population of the people in needed of the humanitarian needs had increased from 9.3 million to 10 million.
He emphasized that the strategy this year was how government and partners should cooperate and response to the lifesaving of needed people in the country.
Akol urged the new undersecretary the focus is to make sure that people has graduated from dependent of relief.
“The focusing is to make sure that people have graduates from the dependent of relief” he urged.
He commented the Under Secretary as the Chief Accounting Officer and Principal Administrative Authority of the UNHCR.
“I urge you to provide sound, ethical, and inclusive leadership in implementing government policies, strategies, plans, and the mandate of the Ministry of Interior Affairs” he urged.
Akol added that the most of target people most are refugees and returnees from Sudan which are 1.3 million and Internally Displaced Population affected people in 39 counties with 1.4 million need humanitarian assistant.
Akol welcomed the newly appointed to his office at the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and disaster Management.
The event was attended by staffs at the ministry and Relief and Rehabilitation Commission Chairperson (RRC) and the deputy.
Willian Akoy Dau, new appointed undersecretary in the ministry of Humanitarian Affairs appreciated the minister for warmly welcomed in his office.
Akoy underscored that he would work hand in hand together with the minister and all the staffs in the minister with transparent and accountability.
“I will be working with mandate of the ministry as assigned duties for the welfare of this institution with transparent and accountability” he said.
He also reiterated the humanitarian need by mostly affected population in Upper Nile region which will the arrange response to people to get basic needs due to conflict and flooding.
“The most targeted population in Upper Nile region due to conflict in Sudan and most part of the region with internal conflict and flooding affected the life of people to be response” Akoy reiterated.
