The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State (EES), Louis Lojore Lobong, has called for calm in Kapoeta East County after the attack.
According to the statement dated 17th, Jan 2026, the Governor visited the Kapoeta East County on peace and mobilization mission following the confrontation between the South Sudan people Defense Force (SSPDF) and Sudan People Liberation Army in Opportunity (SPLA – IO).
According to the statement, the Governor addressed the Napotpot community, cautioning not to be lured into unnecessary wars or associating with criminals’ elements, that don’t embrace peace for the lives of the Citizen of EES.
Lobong briefed the community on the circumstances surrounding Narus and Nadapal attack, emphasizing that government remained committed to protect lives, property and integrity while upholding peace and coexistence.
According to the statement, the Governor urged the people of Napotpot and neighboring areas to remain calm, vigilant, and cooperative with organized forces, stressing that security challenges must be addressed through lawful means and collective responsibility, not retaliation or unlawful mobilization.
The Governor commended the local youth for their patriotism and cooperation with organized forces in protecting the land and maintaining order during the incident. Adding their acknowledgement with their role in supporting security institutions and called on to continue working within the law to safeguard their communities.
Governor Lobong reaffirmed state government’s resolve to restore and sustain peace across Eastern Equatoria State and appealed to all citizens to reject violence and stand united for stability and development.
