The authorities in greater Pibor Administrative area have launched investigation over the killing of two Health workers in Pochallo County this week.
According to official, the two health workers were ambushed along the way from Nyium to Pochallo South headquarters for field visit before they eventually came to ambush and killed.
Speaking to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, Hon. Jacob Werchum, the government’s spokesperson in Pibor administrative area stated that the culprits have remained in large but the government is putting effort to investigate and apprehend the gunmen.
“Well, were given a report about the killing of the two health workers few days ago in Pochallo South but we didn’t find the criminals. We are now investigating where culprits came from and that we shall apprehend them to book.’’ Jacob said.
Hon. Jacob condemned the act of killing the health workers and the residents to refrain from primitive ways of living but rather embrace peaceful living citing Health workers shouldn’t be killed because save lives.
However, Werchum emphasized that the general security situation is relatively calm across the area following the recent incident.
“Until that day, nothing has been reported on the side of security. The security situation is calm. The residents are just going about their daily business activities,” he said
Road ambushes, Cattle raiding, Child abduction among others are major threats facing local communities in Jonglei and greater Pibor Administrative area.
