The County Commissioner of Twic East County has reported at least 500 individuals who were displaced following the clashes between SPLA-IO and SSPDF have arrived in Twic East County this week seeking refuge.
According to area Commissioner, the IDPs started to arrive in Panyagoor, the headquarters of Twic East early this week from Yuai, Pajut, Duk and Uror.
Speaking to this Publication, the Commissioner of Twic East County, Hon. Juach Arok started the newly arrivals are mostly women, old age and children.
“We have receiving about 500 individuals, these people were displaced from Duk, Poktap, Uror and Pajut. I received them and when I see, their health condition is bad as you know it’s the basic need, there is no food as well.’’ Juac said.
He emphasized that the internally displaced persons have been received in Twic East but are desperately in need of humanitarian support citing that the displaced persons lacks blankets and food items.
“Today, I ordered the registration of this people. This is to know actually the number of people who are coming. Of course, the number increases daily. So this is the situation we are in now.’’ He stated.
Hon. Juac appealed to Humanitarian Partners in Jonglei State help assist displaced persons in Twic East citing that the influxes continue to increase daily as more clashes are still being reported in different parts of Jonglei between SPLA-IO and SSPDF.
“As you are well aware that Twic East was affected by the flood in recent years and with this case, we don’t have anything to render these people. Therefore, I appeal to the partners and other well-wishers to support this people.’’ Arok said.
In the recent weeks, several clashes have been reported between SPLA-IO and SSPDF in areas of Yuai, Nyiror, Uror and Pajut displacing thousands of innocent civilians. However, the civil Society group in South Sudan and International Communnnnm nity have called for the cessation of Hostility but embrace peace dialogue between the warring parties.
