The Long-awaited deputy governor of Jognlei State has been finally appointed through presidential degree over the weekend.
According to Jonglei State government spokesperson, Awuol Gajang Awuol, the newly appointed deputy governor of Jonglei State was serving as the SPLM Chief Whip at Jonglei State Parliament.
Speaking to this Publication Nyamar Lony, the spokesperson of Jonglei State government started that the newly appointed deputy governor comes from Piji County in Jonglei state.
“Ha, we have confirmed, the deputy governor of Jonglei State, by the name Awuol Gajang has been appointed and he will be taking his oath of office tomorrow. He is from SPLM Party and he is from Piji County. Lony said.
Nyamar stated that the swearing in ceremony for the deputy governor would be presided over by the governor on Tuesday in Bor.
The seat for the deputy governor of Jonglei State has been emptying for more than a year since the appointment of Dr. Riek Ghai Kok early last year.
Following the long delay over the appointment of deputy governor, many concerned citizens and civil society groups have been questioning Jonglei State leadership over the delay of the appointment of deputy governor.
Some emphasized that the leadership vacancy has created a vacuum in service delivery and security strengthening across the state.
