Unity State Minister of Health, Jal Puok Nhial, has called on community members to participate in the ongoing emergency cholera vaccination campaign to curb the current outbreak.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the Ministry’s Press Unit, the Minister urged residents of Rubkona County who have not yet been vaccinated to visit designated sites immediately.
“We strongly encourage all community members who have not yet received the vaccination to visit the designated sites in their respective areas,” Puok said.
The Minister reaffirmed that the vaccine is safe, effective, and remains the most dependable method of protection. He noted the successful start of the second day of field operations, attributing the smooth progression to collaborative efforts with international partners.
Puok extended his gratitude to WHO, UNICEF, GOAL, IRC, Concern Worldwide, and MSF for their pivotal roles in the campaign. “Together, we are safeguarding the health and securing the future of Unity State,” he added.
Dor Gai Patai, Director of the County Health Department (CHD), is currently leading technical field teams through a critical phase of supportive supervision and “mop-up” activities.
Gai explained that this strategic approach ensures no eligible individual is left unprotected following the momentum of the first 24 hours.
“Our dedicated teams are systematically deployed across key locations within Rubkona County, including IDP camps, towns, and areas like Budang-Roriak,” Gai stated.
