Parents urged to Send Children to School

Parents in Yei River County, Central Equatoria State, have been encouraged to send their children to school amid growing concerns over school dropouts and child labour.

The call was made by Alice Ciama, Chairlady of the Yei River County Women Association, who said many children are spending time on the streets instead of attending classes. She urged

Ciama noted that access to education in the county remains a challenge, citing a limited number of schools and a rising number of returnees from neighboring Uganda, which she said has placed pressure on existing learning facilities.

Meanwhile, the Acting Director of Labour for Yei River County, Robert Baby Onesimo, appealed to parents and guardians to protect children from child labour. He warned that engaging children in work deprives them of their right to education and exposes them to possible exploitation.

Onesimo emphasized that children should be supported to remain in school and grow in a safe learning environment despite the current hard economic situation in the country.

In a related development the police inspector of Yei River County Ali Abdallah Tiff warns parents for living their children without education which is very dangerous for such young children who supposed to be the future of South Sudan.

He further calls on the young children to put education as the key Priority instead of Joining Wrong groups which may lead them to prison but if they could focus on education nobody will touch them.
