The Ground Force Commander, Maj. Gen. Ater Kuch, on Tuesday paid an official visit to Kajo-Keji County to assess the security situation and engage with local authorities, security officials, and community leaders.
During the visit, Maj. Gen. Ater held separate meetings with county administrators, field commanders, and security personnel, receiving briefings on the prevailing security environment, operational challenges, and measures currently in place to maintain stability in the area.
He stressed the importance of discipline, vigilance, and cooperation between security forces and civilians, reaffirming the military’s responsibility to protect lives and property and to uphold law and order.
“Kajo-Keji County is strategically important, and ensuring the safety of civilians remains our priority,” Maj. Gen. Ater said, noting that the visit aimed to listen to local concerns, assess risks, and strengthen responses to potential security threats.
The commander also urged troops deployed in the county to maintain professionalism and respect for civilian populations while carrying out their duties.
Kajo-Keji County Commissioner, Wani Jackson Mule, welcomed the visit, describing it as timely and reassuring for residents.
He said local authorities would continue working closely with security forces to promote peace and stability in the county and neighboring areas.
Meanwhile, the area commander, Brig. Gen. Henry Buri, expressed appreciation for the continued support of the ground forces from the Greater Yei region, saying it has contributed to relative calm in the area.
The visit concluded with inspections of key security installations and interactions with troops on the ground, as the commander reiterated his commitment to strengthening peace and security in Kajo-Keji County.
