The Governor of Central Equatoria State (CES), Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has described the revival of the Azande Kingdom as a major step toward strengthening cultural preservation and promoting national unity.

Governor Adil made the remarks in a message to the people of Western Equatoria State as they celebrated the fourth anniversary of the restoration of the Azande Kingdom.

He noted that the Kingdom serves as a vital center for cultural preservation and an avenue for fostering peaceful coexistence among communities.

“The revival of the Azande Kingdom is not only a triumph for cultural preservation but also a step toward national unity and peaceful coexistence across South Sudan,” read part of a statement released by the Central Equatoria State government’s press unit.

According to the statement, Governor Adil reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening cooperation between Central Equatoria and Western Equatoria states in various sectors.

“The deep-rooted ties between Central Equatoria and Western Equatoria—built on agriculture, social harmony, and economic cooperation—are vital to our shared prosperity,” Adil said.

The governor also commended President Salva Kiir Mayardit for his role in restoring traditional authorities across the country.

“I distinctly commend President Salva Kiir Mayardit for his steadfast support in restoring traditional authorities, recognizing their essential role in peacebuilding and community stability,” he added.

On behalf of the government and people of Central Equatoria State, Governor Adil extended warm congratulations to the Azande Kingdom on the celebration of the fourth anniversary of its restoration in Western Equatoria State.

The restoration of the Kingdom, achieved on February 9, 2022, under the kingship of His Majesty King Atoroba Peni Rikito Gbudue, marked the revival of the historic legacy of King Gbudue.

“As you gather to celebrate this year’s anniversary, Central Equatoria State remains committed to strengthening our partnership,” the governor said. “We look forward to continued collaboration in promoting our heritage and sustainable development.”
