KIIR : Signs Cybercrime, other Bills

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has signed into law Cyber Crime and Computer Misuse Act 2026 among other Bills.

In a statement released by the presidential press unit on Wednesday, the Bills includes CyberCrime and Computer Misuse Act 2026, Southern Sudan Audit Chamber Act, 2011 (Amendment) Act, 2026 and Wildlife Conservation and Protected Areas Act, 2026 respectively.

‎Information Minister Ateny Wek Ateny said the cyber crime and Computer misused Act will help provide for offences relating to computer systems to enable timely and effective detection, prohibition, prevention, investigation and prosecution of computer and cybercrimes.

“President Salva Kiir Mayardit has signed into law three Bills namely; Cyber Crime and Computer Misuse Act 2026, Southern Sudan Audit Chamber Act, 2011 (Amendment) Act, 2026 and Wildlife Conservation and Protected Areas Act, 2026 respectively” the statement partly read.

According to Ateny, the Audit Chamber Amendment Act 2026, provide procedures for auditing and reporting on accounts of the National Government Ministries, Institutions, Agencies, Departments, and Corporations, where public funds have been received, invested or spent.

Meanwhile, the Minister underscored that the Wildlife and Protected Areas Act, 2026 was provided for the establishment of Wildlife regulatory framework, to govern all matters related to Wildlife Conservation and management of Protected Areas.

Furthermore, it would also help to sustainably manage and conserve natural heritage and wildlife resources, for the benefit of its citizens.

The newly approved legislation is anticipated to reshape South Sudan’s digital governance, financial accountability systems, and environmental and natural resource management.
