In a call for cessation of hostility in South Sudan, a dancehall artist, Kilama William, AKA Dollar bill Kamkalam music, one of Baridi family star has called on citizen to implement peace.
He said the insecurity has greatly affected their artists and the growth of the country’s music industry.
“Many talented artists are unable to travel freely to other states for performances, tours, and awareness campaigns because of safety concerns” he said.
He said the fear of road ambushes, conflicts, and instability has limited movement and reduced opportunities. When artists cannot reach other states, it becomes difficult to connect with new fans, promote new music, and build national unity through entertainment.
“Music is a powerful tool for peace, awareness, and cultural exchange but insecurity blocks that bridge. Promoters and event organizers also hesitate to organize shows outside major towns due to safety risks” he added.
According to dollar, the insecurity has led to fewer concerts, fewer collaborations, and financial losses for artists, DJs, MCs, dancers, and the entire entertainment community.
He added that when there is security, artists can tour across states, spread positive messages, create awareness about social issues, and represent our culture proudly.
“On behalf of our artists and the entire South Sudan entertainment community, we are calling for an immediate ceasefire in all regions of the country. We strongly embrace peace among ourselves and unity across all states. Peace is not only for politics it is for culture, creativity, youth empowerment, and the future of our music industry” dollar underscored.
Furthermore, dollar emphasized that as the country is approaching the elections expected in December this year, citizens must ask themselves that ‘how can we truly be free if we continue fighting one another
“Fighting and violence will never solve our problems. It only destroys lives, separates families, and delays our future. We need peace. We need a total and immediate ceasefire across all regions of our country” he stressed.
On her part, Leah Apio clement AKA Hellyona Gaga, a female dancehall and Hip-hop artist also emphasized on the promotion peace and unity among the citizen in the country.
