Gender ministry to advance equality through innovations

The ministry of Gender, Child and social welfare (MGCSW) has reiterated a move to advancing gender equality through innovative financing and the allocation of at least ten percent of the nation budget to gender programming.

In statement seen by No. 1 citizen yesterday, Nuna Rhoda Rudolf, Minister of gender and social welfare underscored that the ministry will promote women’s private enterprise, expand access to capital markets, strengthen partnerships with universities and the private sector to scale up start-ups, and create decent and sustainable jobs for women and youth.

“In this spirit, we reaffirm our commitment to advancing gender equality through innovative financing and the allocation of at least 10 percent of the nation budget to gender programming” minister Rhoda emphasized.

She added that the Ministry is equally commit to ensuring meaningful and survivor-centered access to justice for those affected by Gender-Based violence through stronger legal systems, psychosocial suppor6t, and community accountability.

“The welfare of the children, especially those living on the streets and those associated with armed groups, remains a priority through reintegration programmes, education access, family tracing, and strengthened social protection systems” she explained.

According to the minister, the coming international Women’s Day 2026 is a national call to action for government institutions, development partners, civil society, the private sectors, communities and families to move beyond words toward measurable results.

Rhoda further added that the celebration will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, showcases of women’s achievement, cultural performances, and media engagement focused on legal rights, economic empowerment, and peacebuilding.

“I warmly invite women, men, you, and children across our nation to join us in celebrating the resilience and leadership of south Sudanese women and girls. Together, through justice, rights and action, we will give to gain a future where women and girls truly thrive and rise” she underlined.
