By Jacob Onuha Nelson

The Governor of Eastern Equatoria State, Louis Lobong Lojore, has called on residents of Napetait and Ngoloki in Takaninyang Payam, Kapoeta South County, to make education a top priority in their communities.

During a courtesy visit to the area, Governor Lobong emphasized the importance of sending children to school and urged families to take responsibility for supporting teachers and health workers.

He appealed to residents to contribute food and other assistance to sustain essential services in remote villages where government resources are limited.

“He encouraged families to prioritize education by sending their children to school and appealed to communities to support teachers and health workers through local contributions such as food and other assistance to sustain services in remote areas,” a statement read.

The governor also warned residents against associating with rebellious groups, stressing that cooperation with government authorities is vital for maintaining peace and stability.

He urged communities to clear roads linking villages to schools and health facilities, noting that improved access would protect public infrastructure and ensure services reach those in need.

In his remarks, Lobong encouraged the Toposa sections and other South Sudanese engaged in mining activities to promote peaceful coexistence and contribute to economic growth. He said unity and collaboration among communities would strengthen development initiatives and safeguard land, livestock, and property.

The governor explained that his visit was aimed at reinforcing unity, fostering peaceful relations with neighboring communities, and supporting grassroots development.

The engagement brought together government officials including the governor, commissioner, state and national Members of Parliament, as well as representatives of the local communities.

Governor Lobong’s call reflects ongoing efforts by the state leadership to prioritize education, strengthen service delivery, and promote peace and development across Eastern Equatoria.
