Muslim community in Suk Zande receives food assistance

The Muslim community in Suk Zande (Juba) has received a consignment of food items to support vulnerable families as they approach the final days of the holy month of Ramadan.

The distribution, carried out was, targeting fasting families, all Muslims communities in the area who have been facing increasing economic hardship during the Ramadan season.

Speaking to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, Abdulla Mohammed said the support is to enable this community to remain faithful to the fasting, noting that many families are struggling to meet with the daily meals and even meals for breaking the fasting,

“This assistance has come at the right time, it will help families break their fast with dignity and also prepare for Eid.” Mohammed said

He said that this Ramadan period is for arms giving, helping the needy and also engaging in prayers.

“For us Muslims, Ramadan is the holiest month of the year because it commemorates the revelation of the Quran to the Prophet Muhammad. It is a time for deep spiritual renewal, self-discipline, and increased devotion to God” Mohammed stressed

The food items were essential supplies such as flour, sugar, rice, and cooking oil, these aimed at easing the burden during the fasting period and preparing households for the upcoming Eid celebrations.

Some of the community members and families also express their happiness after receiving the items calling it a moment of joy as some of them fast and find it difficult a times to break the fast.

Fatuma Faisal also told No. 1 Citizen Daily English Newspaper that the donation would help during this season, adding that the arms giving was very important to her and the family and also other families.

“I am happy because I have something now on my table that is going to help me and my families and am very sure some families are also feeling just the way am feeling and I pray that other who do not have or gotten this gift” she said

The distribution was appreciated particularly by women and elderly people, calling the initiative, as a relief during a challenging period.

Organizers who are the imams of the mosque in Suk Zande encouraged the community to be and lead by example to other community members in different religion; they urged unity and compassion within the community, highlighting the importance of sharing during Ramadan period that’s marked by charity, reflection, and solidarity.

As Ramadan draws closer to the end, the support is expected to bring hope and relief too many families in Suk Zande, reinforcing the spirit of giving that defines the holy month.

The Muslim community ends their fasting with the week as it was announced by the ministry of labor and public service
