Central Equatoria minister of culture, youth and sports, Bush Bushe has said cultural festivals is a tool for peace and security in the country.
This remark comes after accompanying a delegation from the Pojulu cultural festival to meet governor of central Equatoria state Emmanuel Adil Anthony on Wednesday regarding the upcoming vibrant Pojulu cultural festival.
“As the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in Central Equatoria State, I accompanied the delegation from the Pojulu Cultural Festival to meet His Excellency the Governor of Central Equatoria State regarding the upcoming Vibrant Pojulu Cultural Festival” he said
He added that the committee has requested for full endorsement of the state government.
According to Buse They have requested for financial support and for security support from the state government, which the Governor of Central Equatoria State pledged to fully support the upcoming festival.
“In terms of endorsement, this festival has been endorsed. In terms of financial support, the government has committed to provide financial resources” he said
Buse also said that through the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, he will provide a letter of introduction and also a certificate of incorporation so that this committee will be able to receive support from partners, from the UN agencies, the non-governmental organizations, corporates and other stakeholders.
“I am calling upon them to support this committee. This festival, like any other festival being organized in Central Equatoria State, is in line with the strategic pillar of promoting peace and security in Central Equatoria State. And this is the directive from His Excellency the President of the Republic of South Sudan and the Governor of Central Ecuador State”.
He further added that the festival will be purely aimed at promoting cultures and the rich heritage of the Pojulu people.
According to Buse, it will not only unite the people of Pojulu, but Central Equatoria State, and also the tourists who are going to come to South Sudan because of this cultural festival.
“Businesses will be supported, they will make profit, and I think it is going to have an economic value to empower the youth, empowering women, empowering the people of South Sudan economically” Buse stressed.
Jimmy Samson Kwaje chairperson of Pojulu cultural festival also emphasized that the event would directly contribute to micro-economic development.
“The preparations of the ongoing Pojulu Cultural Festival activity that is going to take place in May from day 10th to 12th. we seek the support of the leadership of the Government of Central” Kwaje said
He further mentioned that the leadership of the Pojulu Cultural Festival has met with the Deputy Governor of Central Equatorial State together with the Governor and seek ways of cooperation on how to move forward with regards to the preparations and also how to coordinate in matters of arrangements to realize the success of the upcoming event.
