The Deputy Governor of Western Equatoria State, Justine Morona, has emphasized the importance of peace, forgiveness, and agriculture as key pillars for sustainable development.
Speaking during the official launch of the Kingdom Tractors in Bazungua, Morona highlighted that lasting peace within communities begins with forgiveness. He urged citizens to embrace reconciliation as the foundation for unity, stability, and long-term harmony across the state.
“Peace begins with forgiveness; lasting harmony can only be achieved when communities embrace reconciliation and let go of past grievances,” Morona stated.
He also underscored the critical role of agriculture in driving economic growth, encouraging local farmers to fully utilize the newly launched tractor to boost productivity and improve livelihoods.
“Agriculture drives economic growth. Investing in farming is essential to boosting livelihoods and strengthening the state’s economy,” he said.
Morona further described agriculture as the backbone of the economy, noting that modern tools like tractors can significantly increase production, enhance food security, and help reduce hunger across the state and the country at large.
He linked development directly to peace and security, stressing that no meaningful progress can take place in an unstable environment. He called on communities and leaders to work together to maintain security throughout the state.
“Development depends on peace and security. Without stability, meaningful progress cannot be realized,” he added.
The Deputy Governor noted that the call for peace is nationwide, especially as the country prepares for the upcoming general elections in December. He said leaders are working collectively to ensure lasting peace and development, aligning with national efforts led by the president.
He emphasized that achieving these goals is a shared responsibility among the state government, national government, civil society, and citizens.
Unity and cooperation, he concluded, are essential to building a peaceful and prosperous future. The launch of the Kingdom Tractor is expected to enhance agricultural activities in Bazungua and surrounding areas, marking a significant step toward improving food production and economic resilience in Western Equatoria State.
