The Central Equatoria State Youth Union (CESYU) has set the ground for holding its third State Youth Convention from 8 to 10 June 2026 in Juba.
To ensure inclusivity, the event will bring together 91 youth delegates from across Central Equatoria State to elect new leadership and set priorities for youth development over the next four years.
The convention, announced by the CESYU Steering Committee on 11 May 2026, is the union’s highest decision-making forum and is held every four years.
It serves as a platform for reviewing organisational performance, strengthening governance structures, and shaping youth-focused policies on leadership, peacebuilding, and socio-economic development.
Delegates will be drawn from all counties of Central Equatoria State, including Terekeka, Yei River, Morobo, Lainya, Kajo-Keji, and Juba, as well as Juba City Council and Wunduruba Administrative Payam.
According to the statement, the convention will also include representation from youth with disabilities, faith-based youth groups, and civil society organisations to ensure inclusive participation.
The three-day event will be held under the theme “Youth are the lead actors for sustainable peace and development.”
It is expected to bring together young people aged 18–35 to engage in discussions on peace and security, governance, innovation, entrepreneurship, technology, and community development.
According to CESYU, the convention will feature keynote addresses, panel discussions, and networking sessions aimed at strengthening youth leadership and participation in decision-making processes.
The Steering Committee has called on the Government of Central Equatoria State, development partners, the private sector, and well-wishers to support the event financially, materially, and morally, emphasising its importance in shaping the future of youth leadership in the state.
In preparation for the 2026 convention, the Government of Central Equatoria State approved financial support to facilitate the organisation and successful hosting of the event.
The approval reflects the government’s continued commitment to youth empowerment, participation in governance, and strengthening of youth-led institutions in the state.
CESYU welcomed the government’s support, describing it as a significant contribution to youth development and institutional strengthening.
The union further noted that the convention will provide an important opportunity to renew leadership, enhance unity among young people, and strengthen their role in peacebuilding and socio-economic transformation.
The Steering Committee also called on development partners, the private sector, and well-wishers to provide additional moral, financial, and material support to ensure the successful hosting of the convention in Juba.
