The Vice President and Chair of the Infrastructure Cluster, Taban Deng Gai, arrived in Bentiu on Thursday morning in Unity State for what officials described as a private visit to his farmland and family.
According to Unity State Minister of Information Nyakenya Johannes Keah Ruai, the vice president’s visit is not part of official government duties but a personal trip to inspect his agricultural land during the rainy season.
She said the vice president, a native of Unity State, returned home to assess his farm and visit relatives.
Upon arrival in Bentiu, the Vice President received a high-level reception attended by the Deputy Governor of Unity State, the State Minister of Information, the Rubkona County Commissioner, and senior government and military officials.
Officials described the reception as a warm welcome home for the vice president, reflecting his standing in the state.
The minister added that the duration of his stay in the state had not been disclosed.
Meanwhile, resident William Yien Lony confirmed the vice president’s arrival in Bentiu but said the purpose of the visit was not immediately clear to members of the public, though it is believed to be related to personal and agricultural interests.
