By Yien Gattuor Mead

Authorities in Leer County have detained five suspects accused of illegally slaughtering community goats in the Juong area as investigations continue.

Speaking to the No.1 Citizens Daily Newspaper, Samuel Machul Nguen said the suspects were arrested after they were allegedly found with cooking equipment, heads of slaughtered goats, and one live goat.

According to Machul, the surviving goat was recovered and returned to its rightful owner, while authorities continue investigating the incident.

He described the suspects as part of a group accused of destroying community property, particularly in the Juong blocks where similar cases have reportedly occurred.

Machul added that once investigations are completed, the suspects will be taken to court to face legal action.

“The five suspects are under detention and investigation after they were found with cooking equipment, heads of slaughtered goats, and one live goat, which was returned to its rightful owner,” Machul said.

“The group is accused of destroying community property, especially in the Juong blocks. Once investigations are completed, they will be taken to court.”
