The committee additionally directed the state task force to intensify patrols along the Juba-Torit, Juba-Terekeka, and Juba-Rokon roads to protect travellers from ambushes and combat armed robberies along those roads.
This followed an alleged attack carried out by elements of the SPLA/IO forces on the technical team who were rehabilitating the Kendila Bridge in Morobo County on Monday, the 25th of May, 2026.
In a statement by the Central Equatoria state press unit, the attack resulted in the loss of lives of technical team members at the bridge site.
“The Committee additionally directed the State Task Force to intensify patrols along Juba-Torit, Juba-Terekeka, and Juba-Rokon roads to protect travellers from ambushes and combat armed robberies along those roads,” the statement partly read.
The Security Committee also extended their condolences to the bereaved families who lost their loved ones and directed the commissioner of Morobo County, in coordination with security forces on the ground, to exert efforts to ensure the safety of civilians and their properties.
On health concerns, the State Security Committee further recommended that the State Minister of Health provide general briefings on Ebola preparedness and response plans to ensure public safety despite no record of an Ebola case in the country.
The CES, the government, held a briefing aimed to inform the Security Committee to ensure coordinated efforts to mitigate impacts and measures to prevent the spread of Ebola, as the neighboring countries of Uganda and Congo, which share borders with Central Equatoria State, are working toward containing the outbreaks.
Other resolutions of the meeting included directives given to the mayor of the Juba City Council to conduct improved checks in hotels and nightclubs within the city to address cases of abuse and exposure of minors to alcohol and other malpractices in such places where minors are prohibited.
On Eid Al-Adha holidays, the committee resolved to beef up security and night patrols in areas of Khor Williang, Sherikat, Jonduru, and other places for public safety and to suppress the menace of gang groups in various residential areas.
