The Ngauro Administrative Area has announced plans to convene a peace conference between the Didinga and Toposa communities following deadly clashes that left two people dead and another injured in Leiit, Loudo Payam, on Saturday.
Chief Administrator Lopoyok Augustino Jervase said the violence erupted after a suspected attacker, allegedly from a Toposa kraal, killed a cattle herder from Nathilani.
Another person had earlier been killed at the same location.
In response, Jervase visited Maji Centre in Ngatuba Boma alongside lawmakers, community leaders, youth and women representatives, chiefs, and security personnel to engage residents and prevent further escalation.
He urged the Didinga and Toposa communities to remain calm and preserve the peace agreement that has existed between the Loudo and Buno communities for the past three years.
During the meeting, community representatives appealed for restraint and called on both sides to avoid revenge attacks while allowing security authorities to investigate the killings.
Some residents alleged that youth from a Toposa kraal were responsible for the violence.
However, Toposa community representatives rejected the accusations and called for an impartial investigation to establish the facts.
Kapoeta East County Executive Director Tisiano Tapeng said he had not yet received official information about the incident when contacted.
Jervase said the planned peace conference will bring together leaders from the Didinga and Toposa communities to reinforce peaceful coexistence, resolve emerging security concerns, and prevent further violence.
