Torit Municipal authorities have moved to curb rising youth violence following the arrest of a 25-year-old man accused of attacking another resident with a machete.
Dominic Gidu Peterno was arrested by municipal operation forces after allegedly chopping 35-year-old James Ohayo, a resident of Hai Ingas residential area in Torit Municipality.
The incident has drawn condemnation from Torit Mayor Eddy William Ponsiano, who described the alleged attack as a barbaric act that threatens peace and security within the municipality.
Mayor William has urged young people to reject violence and resolve disputes peacefully, calling on them to take an active role in promoting peace and peaceful coexistence in Torit.
Gidu is expected to be handed over to the police for further investigation, while authorities continue efforts to strengthen security and maintain order within the municipality.
