Yei River County Council Executive has agreed to hold weekly meetings to improve coordination among government departments and address challenges affecting service delivery and development in the county.
The decision was reached during a Council Executive meeting attended by heads of key county departments, including Education, Agriculture, Cooperatives, Health, Gender and Social Welfare, Housing and Physical Infrastructure, Planning and Peace Building, and Water and Sanitation, as well as the county executive body.
The Commissioner of Yei River County, Samuel Henry Malimbo, said the council had agreed to meet every Thursday to strengthen coordination, review departmental challenges, and follow up on issues affecting the population.
He said regular meetings would allow departmental heads to share updates, raise concerns, and work collectively on practical solutions rather than addressing challenges in isolation.
The meeting also reviewed administrative procedures concerning official documents. Among the issues discussed was the handling of land-related documents provided to beneficiaries through UNHCR and the county housing department.
Officials emphasised the importance of ensuring that relevant documents are properly processed and that beneficiaries receive copies where required, while official records remain appropriately maintained.
The council also stressed adherence to established procedures for development activities, including construction and building permits, with applications expected to be handled through the responsible county authorities.
The weekly executive meetings are expected to provide a regular platform for monitoring government activities, improving accountability and strengthening cooperation among departments.
County authorities say the approach is intended to support more coordinated delivery of public services and respond more effectively to development priorities and challenges facing communities across Yei River County.
