The defense team in the Nasir Incident trial has submitted a security application to the Special Court. Following the submission, the court adjourned the proceedings until September 23.
The application was presented during the court’s 115th session on Wednesday and was addressed to both the prosecution and the court.
The defense raised the concerns following earlier claims about alleged threats to the safety of the accused and members of the defense team.
Presiding Judge James Alala ordered that the contents of the application remain confidential.
As a result, details concerning the nature of the alleged security threats have not been made public.
The Court subsequently adjourned the proceedings to September 23 to allow the necessary measures to be considered and taken in response to the security concerns raised by the defense.
The case involves the suspended first vice president and seven co-accused in connection with the Nasir Incident.
