SPLM Chairperson in Central Equatoria State, Emmanuel Adil Anthony, has called on party members to reject tribalism and division while promoting unity and discipline within the party.
Adil also urged members to respect the party leadership and work together as the SPLM conducts its membership registration exercise.
In a statement by the CES-Press unit, Adil made these remarks during a registration exercise aimed at allowing new members to join the party while giving existing members an opportunity to renew their membership.
“Adil also called for unity and discipline within the Party, urging members to reject tribalism and division, respect the Party leadership, and work together,” the statement partly read.
The exercise is also expected to help the SPLM establish an updated record of its membership from the grassroots to the national level.
Adil commended leaders and members of the three Greater Juba blocks for their mobilisation efforts.
Adil urged party members to remain united and disciplined, warning against tribalism and internal divisions.
“The registration is aimed at allowing new members to join the party while giving existing members an opportunity to renew their membership,” the statement continued.
The exercise is also expected to help the SPLM establish an updated record of its membership from the grassroots level to the national level.
“He emphasised that members should resolve internal differences through established party structures,” the statement continued.
He called on members to respect the party’s leadership and work together towards strengthening the SPLM at all levels.
The Central Equatoria SPLM chairperson further encouraged members to use established party structures to address disagreements rather than allowing internal differences to create divisions within the party.
The registration exercise comes as the SPLM continues preparations for its internal activities and the upcoming general elections.
The party has recently intensified preparations for its national convention and electoral processes.
Greater Juba’s three blocks, Munuki, Kator, and Juba, form part of the capital’s political and organisational structures.
The SPLM says the membership registration is intended to strengthen participation and provide the party with an accurate membership database.
The party has also continued to emphasise unity and discipline among its members as it prepares for the political activities ahead.
Meanwhile, Vice President and the first deputy chairperson of the SPLM party, Dr. James Wani Igga, emphasised the importance of unity among party members, noting that the SPLM brings together people from different backgrounds and walks of life.
According to him, maintaining unity of purpose is important for the continued functioning of the party and its members across the country.
“The Vice President also extended his call for dialogue beyond the SPLM, urging party members to engage with members of other political parties for the benefit of the country,” the statement added.
