The construction of Kanjoro Bridge in Yei River County has been completed, with the bridge expected to be officially launched in October.
Residents have welcomed the completion, saying the bridge is expected to improve movement, trade, and access between communities in Yei River County and neighbouring areas.
The project was carried out through collaboration between the Kanjoro community, the Yei River County local government, and Point Investment Company.
Yei River County former Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo earlier commended the community, the construction company, and all those involved in the project, saying the completed bridge would contribute to improved development, security, and trade.
The bridge also provides an important connection for communities in neighbouring Lainya County, including Mukaya Payam, to access markets and services in Yei.
Earlier, ECSS Bishop Emeritus Hillary Adeba of Yei praised the Kanjoro community and the county government for supporting the bridge project.
He said improved infrastructure would make movement between Yei town and surrounding villages easier.
In a related development, Commissioner Malimbo said the county government would continue rehabilitating roads across Yei town.
He said road maintenance had already started along Maridi Road, where potholes are being repaired to improve movement and road safety.
