By Sabri Dibaco

South Sudan’s Under-15 boys’ national football team has arrived safely in Baku, Azerbaijan, to participate in the FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival, marking an important opportunity for the country’s young footballers to gain international experience.

In a statement from the SSFF, the South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) Vice President Deng Abdel Rahman confirmed the delegation’s safe arrival, saying all members were in good health following their journey.

“The delegation has arrived safely, and everyone is well,” Abdel Rahman said in a statement as seen on the SSFF page.

He added that the players would take time to rest before beginning preparations for the competition, which brings together young footballers from different countries.

The South Sudanese team has been drawn in Group D, alongside Cyprus, The Gambia, Jordan, Nigeria, and Pakistan.

The group-stage matches will provide the young Bright Stars with an opportunity to compete against international opponents and demonstrate their development on the global stage.

The tournament is expected to offer the players valuable exposure to different playing styles, tactical approaches, and levels of competition, experiences that could contribute to their long-term development.

For South Sudan, participation in international youth competitions is also an opportunity to strengthen the foundation of the national football team by giving emerging talents the chance to represent their country beyond its borders.

The FIFA U-15 World Cup and Festival provides a platform for young players to develop their football skills, build confidence, and experience international competition in a structured environment.

The team’s arrival in Baku is the first step in its campaign, with preparations expected to begin after the players have rested from their journey.

South Sudan will now look to make the most of the opportunity as the young footballers prepare to represent the country against their Group D opponents.

Further details about the match schedule, opening fixture, and the team’s objectives were not provided in the arrival announcement.
