In a landmark initiative for South Sudan’s sporting future, the government has pledged its support to bolster the South Sudan Football on the international front.
In a statement released by the Association’s press unit, the commitment was solidified during a strategic meeting over the weekend between Foreign Affairs Minister, Monday Semaya Kumba and South Sudan Football Federation (SSFF) President, Mr. Francis Amin, alongside key 1st Vice, Mr. Makur Majok and 2nd Vice, Mr. Deng Abdelrahman.

The statement underscored the discussions focused on fostering a robust partnership aimed at enhancing South Sudan’s visibility and reputation in global football.
Minister Kumba emphasized the pivotal role of football as a unifying force for the nation, stating, “Our government recognizes that football transcends boundaries and can serve as a powerful platform for national pride and identity.”
According to the statement, the sentiment echoed strongly within a country that has faced numerous challenges since gaining independence in 2011, making the promotion of sports an important aspect of national development.
The statement also stated President Amin reiterated the importance of collaboration with the Foreign Affairs Ministry.
“A strategic partnership with the government could open doors to transformative initiatives that not only improve our game but also nurture a sense of community among South Sudanese” statement noted.
It also emphasized that Amin expressed optimism that such alliances could lead to increased funding, better infrastructure, and enhanced training programs for players and coaches alike.
The statement further stressed that the collaborative effort aimed to position South Sudan as a competitive force in African football, reflecting a shared vision of unity through sports.
It underlined that by leveraging the government’s diplomatic channels, the SSFF hopes to attract international matches, sponsorships, and developmental opportunities that can meaningfully impact local talent.
According to the statement, as both the government and the football federation work towards a common goal, the future of South Sudan football appears promising.
With commitment from key stakeholders and a vision for growth, South Sudan could soon become a formidable player on the world football stage, uniting its people through the love of the game.
