“Yes, it true, the incident happened in Saturday on over the weekend. We have tried ways to establish where the attackers come from but we are later informed that this incident was waged by some notorious youth from Duk.’’ Juac stated.

Juac stated that the raided have been traced and were found to be from Duk County.

He said he has been engaging with his Counterpart in Duk since the day of incident on ways to hold the culprits and return the raided cattle to the rightful owners.

“We are very sure of that. Right now we are talking to the Commissioner in Duk. He has identified that criminals to be from Duk, it’s clear why they are doing this but he has assured me that they are engaging the local chief and the culprits in order to return the cattle to their owners.’’ he said..

For his part, John Chaptim Reath, the Commissioner of Duk County admitted that the attackers come from Duk.

“Well, this is a true story, right now, the cows were said to have been taken to Duk Padiet and the chiefs from the area have been informed- they are working hard to make sure that these culprits are brought to book and that cattle ae returned to their owners.” he said.

However, Commissioner Reath cited that his engaging the perpetrators together with local chiefs about what triggered them to raid the cattle.

He confessed that the cattle raided compromised of the cattle from Twic East and Nyar-weng in Duk respectively.

“the cattle don’t belong to Twic East alone, this is the lie, in the latest reported we have, there are cattle from Nyarweng which were also raided. But that number can’t reach 300.  According to the report given to me, they were only three folds taken, they can’t amount to 300.’’he said

Commissioner Reath condemned the incident and described it as primitive behaviours that Youth are inflicting the communities.

Since 2023, the communities of Ayuel and Hol in Twic East and Duk Counties have been engaging in circle of revenge attacks, leading to several losses and property destruction.

However, many peace accords have been held between the two communities to end the atrocities but nothing seems to work out.
