NANG: U-turns to CDF

President Salva Kiir has relieved the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) of the South Sudan People’s Defense Forces (SSPDF), Gen. Dau Aturjok Nyuol.

The head of state and the Commander In Chief of the SSPDF appointed Gen. Paul Nang Majok as Chief of Defense Forces.

All these changes were made on Wednesday through  presidential decree readout on the state-owned broadcaster, the South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC).

Gen. Dau Aturjong Nyuol was appointed in July as the Chief of Defense Forces (CDF), replacing Paul Nang Majok.

Hence, Nang current appointment stands as the military comes back to implement some of his previous programs.

In separate decrees on Wednesday, Kiir relieved Minister of Transport Dr. Lam Akol as well as Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism Rizik Zachariah Hassan.

The President appointed Rizik Zacharia Hassan as the Minister of Transport, replacing Dr. Lam Akol.

Kiir also appointed the former governor of Jonglei state, Denay Jock Chagor, as Minister of Wildlife Conservation and Tourism.

The head of state revoked the appointment of Beny Gideo as minister in the Ministry of East African Affairs.

Kiir appointed Pinge Deng as Minister of East African Affairs, replacing Beny Gideo.

In a separate appointment, President Salva Kiir reassigned former CDF Aturjong as technical advisor in the Ministry of Defense and Veteran Affairs.

The president also relieved Mary Hillary Wani of her position as undersecretary in the Ministry of Labor and resigned her as undersecretary in the Ministry of East African Affairs.
