Yei Prison Service receives new Director

The South Sudan National Prison Service has appointed a new Director of Prisons for Yei River County, marking a leadership transition after nearly one year of service by the outgoing director.

Major General Franco Wani Tongun, the former Director of Prisons in Yei River County, officially handed over leadership and welcomed the change, describing it as part of routine government reforms.

He expressed his support for the new leadership and assured continued cooperation in strengthening the prison service.

Major General Tongun further noted that he remains committed to supporting the institution, drawing on his experience and past service in Yei River County.

The newly appointed Director, Major General Jackson Lumori, expressed appreciation to the County Commissioner of Yei River County, Emmanuel Taban Seme, for the warm reception upon his return.

 

Major General Lumori previously served in Yei and emphasized his readiness to work for the wellbeing and security of the county.

He called on prison officers and staff to uphold unity, professionalism, and respect for human dignity while executing their duties.

Welcoming the new director, Commissioner Emmanuel Taban Seme assured the prison leadership of full cooperation from the county authorities in addressing crime and enhancing public safety across Yei River County.

The commissioner also commended the outgoing director, Major General Franco Wani Tongun, for his dedication and service during a challenging period marked by economic difficulties.

According to officials, Major General Tongun has been transferred to Terekeka County in Central Equatoria State, while Major General Jackson Lumori has been reassigned from Terekeka back to Yei River County.
