By Peter Kuol Kuch

The Commissioner of Bor County pledged that he has started to engage the local chiefs in his County about the seven children and three women who are claimed to have been abducted from Gurumuuk and Macabol early this month.

According to authorities from Pibor, the children and women are reported to have been abducted when the suspected armed youth from Bor pursued their cattle which were raided by suspected armed bandits from Pibor early this month.

However, the Commissioner of Bor County took this step following the six-day Peace Conference that was concluded with the returned of the cattle raided and abducted children and women from Bor County and Gumuruuk respectively.

Speaking to No.1 Citizen Daily Newspaper, Hon. Ateny Pech, the Commissioner of Bor County emphasized that the local chiefs from both communities have pledged their commitment to return the raided cattle and abducted Children to their rightful owners to enhance the peace and harmony among the local communities.

“Yeah, the Conference has ended yesterday, and the chiefs and youth leaders from Bor County have returned to Bor. The Conference has agreed that raided cattle must be returned to their rightful owners.” Ateny said.

Hon. Ateny started that he is investigating his local chiefs about the claimed seven children and three women abducted to his cattle and can be returned when found.

Commissioner Pech appealed to his Counterpart in Pibor to work diligently to return the cattle which were raided from Baidit and Anyidi early this month to ensure peace among communities.

“Following this step, I have now taken a step to engage the local Chiefs of Bor County on the seven children and three women who are claimed to have been abducted by our youth when they pursued their cattle to Pibor. The children will be taken their there when found,” he said

Early this month, over 900 herd of cattle were raided from Baidit by the suspected raiders from Pibor Administrative area; that couldn’t be traced back.

The six-day Peace Conference was attended by youth leaders, and local chiefs from both communities in Macabol and Bor County, facilitated by Peace Canal; a Peace Partner working for Peace in Jonglei State.
