President Salva Kiir Mayardit has appointed Tut Gatluak Manime as the chairperson for the inter-party high-level steering body for Management of the Political Dialogue on the Way Forward to Elections.
The establishment was read on the state-own South Sudan Broadcast Corporation (SSBC) on Thursday.
He also appointed Stephen Par Kuol as the deputy co-chairperson from the South Peoples Liberation Movement in-Opposition and Dr. Akol Paul Kordit, Deputy Co-Chair from SPLM.
Dr. Martin Elie Lumuro was appointed as a Rapporteur from National Agenda, Africano Mande Gedima as the Deputy Rapporteur from SPLM and Albino Akol Atak as the Deputy Rapporteur from other political parties (OPP).
Kiir further appointed Dedai Chok Jakor, Deputy Rapporteur from SOA, Nuna Rhoda Rudolph, Deputy Rapporteur from Sudan peoples Liberation Movement in-Opposition (SPLM-IO) and Julius Tabule Daniel, Deputy Rapporteur from National Salvation Front (NAS).
The head of state mandate the high-level steering committee body to Organise and facilitate the official launch of the political dialogue process.
“Oversee a comprehensive political dialogue among the parties to the agreement to reach a consensus on the electoral timeline”.
They are also mandated to review and harmonise the chemical reports and legal framework necessary for the conduct of free, fair and credible elections, and provide regular progress reports and a final recommended roadmap to the Office of the President to ensure the timely implementations of the transition.
Additionally, the were mandated to facilitate engagement with the review’s relevant stakeholders to ensure an inclusive and peaceful political tension and invite and appoint key experts and moderators to facilitate the dialogue sessions.
