“Waat Adol Community to Host Historic Peace Conference in Pagor Payam of Cueibet County, Lakes State, 16 March 2026”

By Engr. Maker Mangol Acien Yuol

‎‎11 March 2026 — The Waat Adol Community will convene a historic Peace Conference on 16 March 2026 in Pagor Payam to advance reconciliation, unity, and sustainable development across Pan Waat and surrounding communities of Gok Community. The conference is set to bring together community leaders, elders, Civil Society, youth, women, religious figures, government representatives, and development partners for inclusive dialogue and collective decision making.

‎The conference aims to foster reconciliation and lasting peace among the people of Pagor and neighboring areas, while creating shared pathways for peaceful coexistence and sustainable development. Local concerns will be connected to state authorities to mobilize coordinated action on security and essential services.

‎Waat Adol Community Chairman Matur Lueth Bol has urged broad community participation in peacebuilding and development programs, emphasizing that local engagement is essential to resolving long-standing tensions.

‎On a case study across South Sudan, communities face urgent needs that, if addressed, can reduce conflict drivers and strengthen the stability of the Country. The Gok Community as one of the Communities faces the challenges of security, feeder roads, education, health facilities, and clean water systems—particularly in areas of Gok Toich in Cueibet County and surrounding areas.

‎I highly recommend all Communities to participate in active engagement from all sectors of the Communities to spread peace messages and share local challenges with state authorities.

“This conference should not just be a meeting—it should be a commitment to healing divisions and building a future where children can learn, families can access health care, roads and water systems support livelihoods. Together, Communities can shape a shared future of peace and progress.”
