‎Kiir in South Africa for bilaterial talks

President Salva Kiir Mayardit has left for South Africa on an official visit to hold talks with his counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa.

‎In a statement  that was released by the presidential press unit, President Kiir would hold discussions with President Ramaphosa to deepen the historical relations and cooperation between the two countries.

According to the statement, that visit is a continuation of the discussions held by President Salva Kiir and President Ramaphosa in Addis Ababa last month, and builds on the groundwork laid during the previous visit by the Senior Presidential Envoy on Special Program, Adut Kiir to South Africa.

“The President of the Republic, Salva Kiir Mayardit, left the country this morning heading to South Africa on an official visit to hold talks with his South African counterpart, Cyril Ramaphosa” the statement partly ready.

According to the presidential press unit, the talks between the two sides are expected to focus on strengthening the historical ties binding the peoples of both nations, and expanding cooperation in the fields of economy, institutional building, and capacity development.

‎The visit intends to deepen the bonds of relationship between the two countries to serves their mutual interests .

President Kiir was seen off by senior government and military officials, Central Equatoria state governor, who also serves as the chairperson of CES SPLM party.

African leaders meeting on the margins of that summit agreed on a roadmap to support South Sudan’s political transition, advance peace, and prepare for elections in December this year.

They called for inclusive dialogue, the release of detained political figures, including opposition leader Dr. Riek Machar, and the full implementation of the 2018 Revitalized Peace Agreement.
