The Governor of Western Equatoria State, Badagbu Daniel Rimbasa, has given the citizen of WES assurance of their safety during the upcoming farming season.

Speaking during a press statement, Governor Daniel said a comprehensive strategic plan focused on peace building, public health response, and economic recovery with agriculture positioned as a central pillar of the state.

“Farming activities this season is our priority so we will make sure security and peaceful activities continues in the state”  a culture of war to a culture of peace” Badagbu Daniel said.

He said that the current situation in the country can only be overcome with farming and the fertile land that the country is blessed with.

“We must transition Western Equatoria from a culture of war to a culture of peace” the governor emphasized, acknowledging that years of insecurity have severely disrupted livelihoods across the state”

The pledged comes at a critical time as Western Equatoria state, long regarded as South Sudan’s agricultural backbone, prepares for the main farming season.

Residents have consistently cited fear of attacks, looting, and sporadic gunfire as major obstacles preventing them from accessing their farmland most especially in the nearby counties of Tambura and Mundri respectively.

During his recent official reception at Yambio Freedom Square, community members, youth representatives, and women leaders voiced their hopes that the new administration would deliver tangible security improvements that allow families to cultivate without fear.

In February, youth leaders, women leaders called on his administration to bring peace among different communities in the state.

“Security must be stable so that movement can be facilitated and people can live well” stated a community leader.

The governor also made a similar call days back assuring farmer that farming should continue to eradicate hunger in the state.

Western Equatoria State has faced intermittent insecurity in recent years, affecting farming, trade, and social services despite its vast fertile land and strategic location.

Areas including Gangura, Bazungua, Lii Rangu, and other payams have been particularly affected, with farmers unable to access their fields.

As the farming season approaches, residents say they remain cautiously optimistic that under Governor Daniel Badagbu Rimbasa’s leadership, stability will be restored, allowing families to cultivate their land and revive the state’s agricultural productivity.
