President Salva Kiir Mayardit has removed the caretaker minister of Cabinet Affairs, Dr. Martin Elia Lomurö, and replaced him with Bol Wek Agoth as the new caretaker minister.

This change was made in a republican decree read on the state-owned South Sudan Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) on Wednesday.

In a separate decree, the head of state appointed Hussein Abdelbagi as presidential advisor, replacing Dr. Costello Garang Riiny.

He further appointed Angelo Ngot as the new governor of Warrap State.

Lomuro was appointed to the caretaker government on September 22, 2026, following the dissolution of the transitional government.

He was appointed as the Minister of Cabinet Affairs in South Sudan in 2008. He has been serving in this position since then, playing a significant role in the government of the country.

Lomuro served as the Minister of Animal Resources and Fisheries in the previous government of Southern Sudan before being appointed as the Minister of Cabinet Affairs by the president.

The change comes as South Sudan prepares for general elections scheduled for December 22, 2026.
