President Salva Kiir Mayardit has endorsed an ambitious nationwide grassroots mobilisation and reorganisation strategy by the SPLM Youth League as the party steps up preparations for the December general elections.
According to a statement that was released by the presidential press unit on Thursday, the strategy was designed to bring the SPLM Youth League closer to young people across the country, strengthen its grassroots structures, and place the energy and participation of South Sudan’s youth at the center of the party’s electoral mobilisation.
“President Kiir received a detailed presentation on the Youth League’s ongoing political activities, including its grassroots engagement strategy, organisational restructuring, and pre-election mobilisation program,” the statement partly read.
The report was presented by SPLM Youth League Chairperson Puok Bol Par, who outlined plans to expand and revitalise the League’s structures from the national level to states, counties, payams, and bomas.
At the heart of the program is a nationwide grassroots engagement campaign, through which the Youth League will travel across the country to reorganise its structures, reconnect with communities, and strengthen direct engagement with young South Sudanese.
The press unit noted that the campaign will also promote civic and political education, giving young people greater awareness of their rights and responsibilities, the importance of political participation, and their role in shaping the country’s democratic future.
Kiir warmly welcomed and endorsed the proposed program, directing the Youth League leadership to move with greater urgency in strengthening its grassroots presence and mobilising young people ahead of the December elections.
The SPLM Chairman stressed that a strong youth movement must be built on unity, discipline, cohesion, and collective responsibility, urging the Youth League to remain united and work together as one movement.
He called on the youth leadership to reach out to young people across the country, strengthen the party’s grassroots network, and mobilise the next generation of SPLM supporters behind the party’s vision and electoral campaign.
“President Kiir also reaffirmed his commitment to the empowerment and meaningful participation of South Sudan’s young people, recognising them as a vital force in the country’s political, social, and economic future,” the statement added.
For the SPLM Youth League, the strategy represents a renewed push to make young people not simply supporters of the party but active participants in its grassroots political machinery and national campaign.
With the president’s endorsement, the Youth League now has a clear mandate to accelerate its nationwide mobilisation drive, strengthen its organisational footprint, and take the SPLM’s message directly to young people in communities across South Sudan.
