Yei Civil Hospital has received a new digital X-ray machine donated by the Nzuri DAIMA Foundation to support diagnostic services at the hospital.
The equipment was handed over on Tuesday morning in Yei in the presence of Yei River County Commissioner Samuel Henry Malimbo, the County Executive Director, the Director of the County Health Department, and other health officials, alongside representatives of the Nzuri DAIMA Foundation.
Commissioner Malimbo thanked the foundation for the donation and called on medical authorities to ensure the equipment is properly maintained to extend its operational life.
He said the hospital, which was designated as a regional referral hospital earlier this year, could use the equipment to improve access to diagnostic services for patients from Yei and surrounding areas.
Malimbo also said the county government was working to ensure that qualified health workers are available to operate and manage the equipment.
The Executive Director of Yei, Hillary Lokudu, praised the organisation for donating the civil hospital with the machine, which is Paramount, to the community.
Simon Musoga commended the Nzuri DAIMA Foundation for working with the hospital and the wider Yei community. He said additional health workers would need training on the use of the digital X-ray machine.
Dr Joseph Khemis, representing the Medical Director of Yei Civil Hospital, said the equipment was in good condition but stressed the need for an experienced technical specialist to maintain it.
He also called for its services to be provided without discrimination.
Joseph Yengatu, representing the Nzuri DAIMA Foundation, said the organisation was pleased to support the hospital and the wider community in Yei River County.
Yengatu said the foundation is also supporting education in the county, including students in nursing and primary and secondary schools.
