The National Security Service has graduated approximately 500 personnel in Paloch to secure oil fields and maintain security in Upper Nile State.

In a statement that was released by the Melut County Commissioner’s press unit, the ceremony was led by Brigadier General Waal Deng Mading, Security Commander at Paloch Oilfield, and attended by several security officials.

“The Acting Commissioner of Melut County, Adwai Akiech Yuot, on Sunday attended the graduation ceremony of approximately 500 National Security Service (NSS) personnel in Paloch, Upper Nile State,” the statement partly read.

The newly graduated personnel were drawn from various counties across Upper Nile State.

The graduation marked the seventh batch of the National Security Service and the second batch to graduate at the county level in Melut.

The exercise is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and stability, secure oil fields, and protect civilians and their property.

Addressing the graduates, security officials emphasised the importance of discipline, commitment to assigned duties, and the protection of civilians.

They urged the personnel to consider the needs of ordinary citizens and respect their property, stressing the importance of building trust and cooperation between security forces and local communities.

In his remarks, the Acting Commissioner of Melut County, Adwai Akiech Yuot, said the graduation came at an appropriate time, particularly as the country prepares for the upcoming elections.

He highlighted the role the newly graduated personnel could play in securing the electoral process and helping to create a safe and stable environment throughout the county.

The Commissioner urged the personnel to demonstrate wisdom, restraint, and discipline while carrying out their responsibilities.

He also called on them to maintain good relations and coordinate effectively with other security agencies operating in the county to strengthen security, maintain stability, and protect civilians and their property.
