The leadership of greater Pibor Administrative Area (GPAA) has formed a flood management committee to help address and deal with issues of flooding across the area.
The Administrative Area government formed the committee on Wednesday as flood cases surge.
According to Pibor leadership, the flood management committee would be tasked to deal with Flood related issues and would be able to engage Humanitarian actors in GPAA on the humanitarian responses.
Speaking to this Publication, Hon. Jacob Werchum, the Minister for Information in Greater Pibor Administrative area stated that some instrumental road linking Pibor and other minor towns as Gumruuk and Lilkuangele have been cut off by the ongoing flooding.
“The issues of flooding are still many, and of course you must be well aware, yesterday we happened to form flood committee to help coordinate issues of flooding help mobilize funds for flood affected people in Pibor.’’ Jacob said.
He said that the Flood Committee would also be tasked to mobilize funds for Flood responses.
He added that Pochalla is among the areas that have been severely affected recent flooding, destroying crops and properties.
“Pochalla is the worse and other parts such as Gumruuk and Lilkuagele, their roads have been cut off. Again, there is no response that has been made already by the Partners.’’ he said.
According to Pibor, there are no available statistics on the flood displacement in greater Pibor administrative area.
