A South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF) soldier murdered his own mother upon returning from a barrack where he is posted in Unity State.
According to the local authorities on the ground in Gogrial West County, a foot soldier whose identity was not revealed, returned late from his duty quarrel his own mother, and killed at Anguoth village in Awan-Rieu Payam.
Police inspector Brigadier Garang Lual confirmed to this publication that, the incident unfolded on Monday, also sent a shockwave to the local residents of Anguoth village, as nobody is certain about the motive of killing one’s own mother.
Lual stated that the SSPDF officer was posted to Division 4 in Unity State and just returned recently and killed his mother.
“Nobody is sure why the officer killed 64-year-old Nyanut Ayuel Riing, as we are doing investigations now, and everything will be revealed afterwards,” said Garang.
Cases of people committing suicide and killing their own kith and kin have become commonplace in the region, and some analysts blame the development on economic hardships facing everyone in the country.
Authorities urged people to exercise restraint and seek the rule of law.
