President Kiir in Ethiopia for bilateral talks

President Salva Kiir Mayardit yesterday arrived in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, on a diplomatic mission aimed at strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries.

According to a statement issued by the presidential press unit, President Kiir was received at Bole International Airport by Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Berhanu Tsegaye, along with officials from the South Sudanese Embassy in Ethiopia.

The presidential press unit stated that President Salva Kiir will engage in a high-level discussion with the Ethiopian leadership, focusing on issues of mutual interest and regional cooperation.

Meanwhile, Kiir will also hold sideline meetings with several heads of state who are currently in Addis Ababa for the ongoing high-level summits.

Ethiopia and South Sudan share a historically cordial relationship, characterized by diplomatic cooperation, economic ties, and mutual support for regional stability.

The two countries have been actively engaging in diplomatic discussions to strengthen their bilateral relations.
