The new governor of Warrap state, Bol Wek Agoth, has on Thursday 5th June 2025, taken oath of allegiance to assume.
President Salva Kiir Mayardit on Wednesday, appointed Bol Wek Agoth through a decree, to replace the former governor, Magok Magok.
Governor Bol, who has been serving the country as a diplomat and in the security sector, pledged to prioritize peacebuilding, law enforcement and restoration of local governance.
During the swearing-in ceremony at state house, Bol also called on people from Warrap, who are living in Juba to become ambassadors of peace for their conflict-ridden state.
In a press statement extended to this outlet, President Kiir urged the people of Warrap state to welcome the new governor with open hearts, minds and work together to restore peace.
President Kiir’s reshuffle followed a surge in intercommunal conflict in Warrap, leading displacement and loss of human lives.
